Who does not love to get away from hectic city life and spend a few summer days in the middle of nowhere?

Keep your family (and mother nature) safe by follow these simple, but important, campfire safety tips

  • Check if there are any fire restrictions
  • Pick a campfire spot downwind from your tent and make sure it is at least 15 feet away
  • Use existing fire pits or fire rings (if possible)
  • Use three types of woods
    • Tinder- dry leaves, dry grass, twigs
    • Kindling- small twigs
    • Fuel- large pieces of wood
  • Start the fire on a leveled ground
  • Do not use flammable liquids to start the fire
  • Have a bucket of water ready to put the fire out in case of an emergency
  • Keep the fire small and under control
  • Extinguish the fire before going to bed or leaving the campsite
