According to the National Fire Protection Association, fire departments in America respond to a fire every 24 seconds in the United States (over 70% were homes.)
Kids learn how to react to a fire if it happens at school, since they conduct fire drills, but most do know what to do if a fire occurs at home. That is why it is so important to come up with a home evacuation plan and do regular fire drills. You should come up with an evacuation plan and get the whole family involve, even the little ones.
Pick a meeting place far enough from the home, preferably on the front yard. Show everyone in the family where the smoke detectors are located and explain that if they every start beeping to go to the assigned meeting place.
